Privacy Policy
Last updated May 30, 2026
Periscope, Inc. (“Periscope”, “we”, “us”) helps you remove your personal information from data broker websites and monitor for new exposures. Protecting your privacy is our entire business, so we hold ourselves to a higher standard than the legal minimum. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it.
Overview
We collect the minimum information needed to find and remove your records from data brokers. We never sell your personal information, and we never use it for advertising. Sensitive fields are encrypted, and you can export or delete everything we hold at any time.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly and information needed to perform removals:
- Identity details — name, date of birth, current and previous addresses, phone number, and alternate email addresses. Data brokers index records by these fields, so we need them to find your matches.
- Account information — your email address and authentication details.
- Billing information — handled entirely by our payment processor (Stripe). We never see or store your full card number.
- Service data — the status of removal requests, broker sites where your data appeared, and alerts we generate for you.
- Identity verification documents — only when a specific broker requires proof of identity to process a removal. These are stored encrypted and deleted promptly after use.
How we use your information
We use your information solely to provide and improve the service:
- To locate your records across data broker websites.
- To submit and follow up on opt-out and deletion requests on your behalf.
- To monitor for re-listings and new exposures, including dark web breaches.
- To send you service notifications you’ve enabled (you control these in your account).
- To provide customer support and comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Acting as your authorized agent
When you complete onboarding, you authorize Periscope to act as your agent under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and equivalent state laws, to submit opt-out, deletion, and do-not-sell requests to data brokers on your behalf. We use your information only to fulfill these requests and supply it to a broker only to the extent required to identify and remove your specific records.
How we share information
We share the minimum necessary, and only with:
- Data brokers — to identify and remove your records, when submitting opt-out requests you’ve authorized.
- Service providers — infrastructure, email delivery, identity authentication, and payment processing, each under contracts that prohibit using your data for any other purpose.
- Legal authorities — only when required by valid legal process.
We never sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
Text messages and mobile information
When you provide your phone number to start a Data Safety Scan or to sign in, we use it solely to confirm you own the number and to deliver a one-time verification code. By providing your number, you confirm it belongs to you and consent to receive an SMS verification message from Periscope. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out and HELP for assistance.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties. We do not sell, rent, or trade your phone number, and we never use it for advertising. Your number is shared only with the messaging provider strictly necessary to deliver your verification code, under a contract that prohibits any other use.
Data retention
We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. Pre-account scan data is deleted within 30 days if you don’t create an account. When you cancel, we retain your data only as long as needed to complete in-flight removals, then delete it. Identity documents are deleted promptly after the relevant broker confirms removal. You can delete your account and all associated records at any time from your account settings.
Security
Sensitive fields — including your date of birth, addresses, and family details — are encrypted at the application layer with keys held separately from the database. All data is encrypted in transit. Access to sensitive data is logged and audited. We follow the principle of least privilege and review our security practices regularly.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing (we don’t sell, so there’s nothing to opt out of). You can exercise these directly:
- Access / export — download everything we hold from your account settings.
- Deletion — delete your account and all records from your account settings.
- Other requests — email us at the address below.
We will never discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
